Project Description

Coal Tit Needlework

Whenever I think about the importance of carefully selecting a suitable colour scheme I am reminded of this needlework of a coal tit. If it was surrounded by the incorrect colour of mount board, the colour of the bird appeared to change and it looked like a blue tit! I stretched and hand stitched the material around an inert, padded board and added hidden spacers to keep the material away from the glass. A natural wooden frame was used in keeping with the subject matter.

“I took an embroidery to Gill that had taken many, many hours of work.  I was looking for somebody who could help me to make decisions and had the skills to create the sort of frame I wanted.  Gill was so very helpful and her ideas fitted well with mine.  She took a lot of time to help me reach a decision without any pressure to commit.  I am extremely pleased with end result. The colours and quality of Gill’s work is excellent.  I will certainly be going back to her again.”
